Dresdner Robin Completes Early Learning Center Engineering in Newark, NJ

Land-use planning consultancy Dresdner Robin announced the official opening of the Maher Charitable Foundation’s Early Learning Center, located in the South End of Newark.

Dresdner Robin provided all aspects of site development, including site analysis, zoning analysis, stormwater management, environmental assessment and remediation, and professional engineering, among others. In addition to expert planning testimony presented at the public hearings, which contributed to the necessary site plan approval, design and traffic recommendations along Demarest Street were also provided.

“Having worked on this project since its inception in 2018, we are delighted to see the center come to life,” said Mark Vizzini of Dresdner Robin, Associate Director of Land Development. “Not only does it include several prominent exterior features that beautify the site, but it has also expanded the early education system in Newark, providing additional options for young people.”

The Early Learning Center includes a dual-purpose play area for young children and toddlers, as well as drop-off, pick-up and parking areas, which have been designed with traffic calming measures in mind , including speed tables and raised pedestrian crossings. Dresdner Robin also installed a stormwater transport system and two underground stormwater management systems.

“Our mission was to create a sustainable and safe outdoor space for our young students,” said Sam Crane of the Maher Charitable Foundation. “With its talented team of engineers and designers, Dresdner Robin exceeded our expectations and ultimately helped us make a positive impact on the Newark community.”

Dresdner Robin performed state-required environmental child care investigations and reporting supervised by a licensed site remediation professional to obtain a state child care license.

Prior to the opening of the Early Learning Center, Dresdner Robin made a temporary installation on a site adjacent to the permanent installation. The students officially moved from the temporary facility to the Maher Charitable Foundation’s new early learning center in March this year.
