Life Achievement Award

After leaving school with only an O level, Tim Garratt discovered a talent for technical drawing while performing covers. This landed him a position in the architecture department of the Home Brewery, where he was exposed to property management, leading to a degree in surveying from Nottingham Polytechnic, now Nottingham Trent University.

After working at Savills and FHP, Garratt joined Innes England in 1999, where he served as Managing Director and then Chairman. He then played a major role in establishing the Boots Enterprise Zone in Nottingham and promoting the area at the annual Mipim property conference. Garratt left Innes England in 2020 to set up his own property consultancy, Blackstar Advisory, and recently played a key role in another big deal, the sale of the Castle Meadow campus to the University of Nottingham. Far from overseeing major transactions, Garratt shares his considerable expertise by lecturing final-year Commercial Real Estate students at Nottingham Trent University.
